Holiday Meals Program

The Holiday Meals program is Meals on Wheels Chicago’s flagship meal delivery program that serves meals to over 5,000 homebound senior clients on six federal holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

These six holiday deliveries are outside the scope of the full-time program, which is run by the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services and funded by the Older Americans Act. Because of this, MOWC raises private dollars to ensure that every client receives a nutritious meal on the holidays when they feel particularly vulnerable to isolation. This program is vital to MOWC because of our belief that meal disruption (not receiving meals) is harmful to the health and well being of our city’s seniors. We cannot imagine going six days a year without food and living our best lives.

The Holiday Meals program serves homebound seniors age 60+. If you are interested in learning more about the program or getting enrolled, please contact our partners at: 312-744-4016.
