Home Modification (HomeMod)
For individuals living with a disability, a home that is not accessible can be a significant challenge to them and their loved ones. Home remodeling to accommodate a disability is often times costly and not possible for many Chicagoans. Because of this, MOWC supports the HomeMod Program through the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities.
HomeMod offers in-home modifications to make a residence more accessible and might include widening door frames, installing a ramp, or lowering cabinets and countertops. Most projects cost $10,000. Meals on Wheels Chicago financially supports HomeMod because the program focuses on providing solutions for individuals to gain or maximize independence in their own homes.
