Holiday Card Drive
Meals on Wheels Chicago recognizes that the holidays can be a difficult time for many of our city’s homebound seniors. The absence of family and friends, as well as the reminder of better times, can be challenging and increase a sense of loneliness and isolation. MOWC strives to make the season brighter through our Holiday Card Drive, which offers friendly seasonal communication to recipients of home-delivered meals through our Holiday Meals Program.
The Holiday Card Drive offers volunteers the opportunity to show support and care to these individuals by spreading some holiday cheer and making a difference in the lives of our city’s homebound senior population. In 2015, we collected over 4,000 cards!
Who can get involved?
Schools, community groups, churches, companies, and even individuals!
What is involved?
Holiday cards can be created or purchased. The card can include a personal holiday greeting such as “Thinking of you during the holiday season,” “Happy Holidays,” or “Season’s Greetings.” Greetings should be non-denominational out of respect for our meal recipients.
Once cards are hand-signed, they can be dropped off or mailed to the MOWC office, located at 1111 N. Wells Street, Suite 307, Chicago, IL 60610. No envelopes are necessary. The deadline to submit cards is Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2016.
What will happen to the cards?
The cards will be included with holiday meals distributed to our homebound seniors.
