MEALS ON WHEELS CHICAGO’S CHEF COUNCIL ANNOUNCES CHEF AWARD
1st Annual Chef Council Legacy Award to be presented to Chef David Koelling at 30th Anniversary Celebrity Chef Ball
(CHICAGO; October 15, 2018)— Meals on Wheels Chicago (MOWC) Chef Council will present the 1st Annual Chef Legacy Award to local Chef David Koelling for his dedicated and continuous support of our 30 Celebrity Chef fundraisers. The award will be presented at the 30th Anniversary Celebrity Chef Ball during the VIP Chef’s Table on Friday, November 9 at Morgan Manufacturing (401 W. Morgan).
Chef Koelling’s path has spanned the US from Michigan, California, Alabama, Arizona, Texas and Louisiana. His exposure to varied regional cooking flavors, techniques and presentation has resulted in a diverse cooking style that blends cultures and flavors in surprising ways. In 1985, David left Commanders Palace in New Orleans to open The Greenery in Barrington, Illinois. The Greenery earned local and national recognition for innovative cuisine and all-American wine lists. In 1997, Koelling opened Biloxi Grill in suburban Wauconda, Illinois. Biloxi Grill opened to rave reviews, including three stars from the Chicago Tribune and the best new restaurant of 1997 from Pioneer Press. Koelling is currently President of Strategic Dining Services, a national dining and hospitality management company.
“Creating, preparing and serving great food to engage, challenge and delight customers and friends is what makes a chefs’ professional life tick. Preparing food for someone in need……. takes this to an entirely different level. Being able to partner with Meals on Wheels makes both of these things possible and I can’t thank them enough for allowing me to be a part of their amazing mission,” says Koelling.
MOWC’s Chef Council advises on MOWC’s culinary events and provides leadership for the chef community. The MOWC Chef Council includes these talented Chicago chefs: Ryan McCaskey (Acadia), Tony Priolo (Piccolo Sogno), Brian Enyart (Dos Urban Cantina), Tom Van Lente (TVL Culinary), Osaka Hisanobu (LEYE), and Cory Morris (Boleo).

About Meals on Wheels Chicago
Meals on Wheels Chicago (MOWC) addresses the unmet needs of Chicago’s homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities through a collaborative, philanthropic effort focused on raising private funds to supplement limited public dollars for city programs that serve them. This is accomplished through special events, corporate and community partnerships, and individual giving to support in-home meal delivery for homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities. MOWC helps these vulnerable populations maintain independent, self-sufficient, and dignified lives in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes.
