Meet Chef Brian Enyart

Brian Enyart is chef and co-owner of Dos Urban Cantina in Logan Square, and one of the founding members of Meals on Wheels Chicago’s Chef Council.  DOS is the partnership of husband and wife chef team Brian Enyart and Jennifer Jones Enyart. The couple met while working under master chefs Rick Bayless and Charlie Trotter, respectively, and soon developed a mutual love of food and travel.

We recently talked to Brian about his connection to Meals on Wheels Chicago:

“Meals on Wheels Chicago is an amazing cause.  Providing a warm meal and a friendly smile to someone in needs really hits home.  For chefs, the Celebrity Chef Ball is a time to come together to give back to our less fortunate neighbors.  Sometimes it is the only time we chefs get to see each other during the year.  It is a time for us to reconnect and do something that has a huge impact on the people of Chicago.

Celebrity Chef has a special meaning for me.  The first time I participated, I had just opened my restaurant Dos Urban Cantina. It was much harder than I thought it would be and it knocked the wind out of me.  I was recruited to cook at Celebrity Chef and it would have been easy to say no.  But something told me to attend and I am glad I did.  I was paired with John Manion from El Che, and Josh Kulp and Christine Cikowski of Honey Butter Fried Chicken.  They knew how hard it is to open a restaurant and they were so kind in their support and their advice.

That, to me, is the spirit of the Celebrity Chef Ball. People coming together to enjoy great food, great company and great energy to support people who are homebound, hungry and alone.  It is amazing how many meals Celebrity Chef provides to our neighbors.  As a chef and as a person, I am committed to this great cause.”
