The Peggy Fossett Thanksgiving Meal for Seniors
(CHICAGO; November 19, 2018)— Meals on Wheels Chicago is pleased to announce support from the Peggy and Steve Fossett Foundation. The Peggy and Steve Fossett Foundation will fund the Senior Holiday Meal Delivery program this Thanksgiving with a grant of $35,000. This will ensure that Chicago’s homebound seniors have meals this Thanksgiving holiday.
“Meals on Wheels Chicago allows us the opportunity to give back to the local community and honor Peggy Fossett ”, says Brian Spaeth (Vice President, Peggy and Steve Fossett Foundation)
“Peggy Fossett was a force in Chicago philanthropy. I cannot think of a better person to honor on a day that is so important and meaningful to those we serve”, says Meals on Wheels Chicago Chairman, Dr. Veeral Sheeth.
2018 marks the 30th year of our very first home delivered meal. In 1988, on Thanksgiving Day we delivered meals to 1,218 homebound seniors. With the support of the Peggy and Steve Fossett Foundation, we will provide more than 10,000 meals and spread holiday cheer to homebound Chicagoans this Thanksgiving.
Meals on Wheels Chicago celebrates its 30th anniversary by honoring Peggy Fossett, naming this year’s Thanksgiving meal delivery “ The Peggy Fossett Thanksgiving Meal for Seniors”. Each holiday meal recipient will receive two meals and a note of well wishes, courtesy of the Peggy and Steve Fossett Foundation.
