Chef Andres E. Farias serves as the Executive Chef of Terrace 16 at Trump International Hotel & Tower® Chicago.
Spending his childhood watching his mother, who was an exceptional chef, Farias eventually came to realize his own passion in the kitchen. At age twelve, he began creating his own meals after school and his passion for cooking remained with him into adulthood. While he went on to obtain a degree in Business Administration, he soon realized that attending culinary school would a better suited path. However, he is still able to uniquely incorporate the skills he learned pursuing a business degree into how he manages his kitchen today.
In 2001, Farias graduated as an International Cuisine Chef from the High Training Educational Institute in Caracas, Venezuela. During his time there, he completed training for French and Asian Cuisine, as well as Bakery-Pastry. After sharpening his cooking skills, Farias pursued Executive Chef positions at JW Marriott in Caracas, Intercontinental Hotels Downtown Miami and Starwoods Hotels – Marriott in Miami among others. He then went on to serve as the Executive Sous Chef at Trump National Doral Miami for four years before transitioning into the Executive Chef role at Trump Chicago in May 2018.
Farias believes that the food he creates should revolve around guests and their dining experience. He aims to create an exceptional culinary experience as he takes inspiration from the seasons in Chicago. Offering dishes that complement the current times, seasonally and aesthetically is a highlight for both him and the entire culinary team. Additionally, he focuses on classics dishes across the menu to appeal to the masses, all while incorporating a contemporary flair in his cooking.
Outside of the kitchen, he values spending quality time with his family. He also focuses on maintaining a healthy lifestyle so you might spot him on a run throughout Chicago!
