Derek Serrano

Executive Chef

Born and raised in the Southside of Chicago, Derek Serrano has been working in the Chicago Food scene for over 10 years. Growing up in his family owned and operated chain of Taquerias, he was destined to cook. Derek was apart of the opening team at TWO, and continued in his culinary experience at The Ausable Club in upstate New York. Once back in Chicago, Derek worked under Kevin McMullen at The Brixton, then worked his way to Dinner Lab, followed by Anomar pop ups with Daniel Espinosa. This wasn’t Derek’s first project with Daniel. Daniel and Derek met back in 2011 and have been cooking together ever since. Together they have worked restaurant scenes, to pop up dinner series, such as Anomar. Serrano, originally one of TWO’s opening line cooks, worked vigorously for the position of Executive Chef. His approach to food is playful and creative, letting simplicity shine. He encourages the people around him to follow his life’s motto; Stay happy, be humble.
