Stemming from a home-grown love of cooking, Klaus has spent time in the kitchen since his youth behind the teachings of his family’s German cooking. He took that love to a professional level after realizing his passion for the culinary arts and graduated from the New England Culinary Institute in Vermont in 2000. From there, his travels and experiences took him from working at Spiaggia, to Germany, Hotel Gasthof Gallus, The Kempinski Four Seasons Hotel and Michelin Star rated, Ristorante Aquarello. Since moving back to Chicagoland in 2003, Klaus has been at The Peninsula Hotel, Hilton Indian Lakes Resort, Doubletree Hotel Oakbrook, Morton Arboretum, opening Executive Chef at the Hofbrauhaus Chicago-Rosemont and the Weber Grill Restaurant Lombard location, where he balanced Off-Premise Catering, Grill Academy and Restaurant. Presently, honored and delighted to be Director of Operations and Chef at Gifford’s Kitchen & Social in Elgin. All this with the love and support from his wife, two kids and extended family.
