Executive Director Elise Geiger Thanks Donors for Holiday Contributions

A Letter Published December 2022:

As 2022 comes to an end, I am thinking about everything that makes the holiday season so special. For many of us, it’s a chance to slow down, spend quality time with each other, and create new memories around the dinner table. Good food is such an important part of shared experiences, connection, and joy. Because of your life-saving gifts of nutritious meals, you will make celebrations across the city a little brighter for seniors and individuals with disabilities.

For 35 years, the Meals on Wheels program has served the City of Chicago’s most vulnerable neighbors, and this year we are especially grateful for the opportunities we’ve had to expand our reach, all thanks to you – our supporters. Your continued belief in our work has opened new avenues to help more people suffering from food insecurity.

Today our staff and a team of volunteers are spending the day at the Nourish Chicago Pantry, a new initiative launched this year. Your continued support has meant we are able to reach more seniors in our community who need a little extra help to maintain independence and dignity in their own homes. Today those seniors will receive fresh food with all the ingredients to make special holiday meals at home. Also this week we are delivering thousands of meals to homebound clients living in every neighborhood, fulfilling our promise to be a reliable and valuable lifeline for our Chicago community.

Each year brings new opportunities to help those in need, and we are grateful that you continue to answer our calls for help with such generosity of resources, time, and talent. Thank you for choosing to support Meals on Wheels Chicago.

Wishing you and your families a happy holiday season!

Gratefully,
Elise Geiger
Executive Director
